The Maine Music Society Chamber Singers is a 15 voice a cappella group that offers an extension of singing opportunities beyond the larger chorale. The Chamber Singers were formed in 2013 and serve as an outreach organization that shares its passion for singing with the greater Lewiston Auburn community. Their musical repertoire includes a mix of genres, current art songs, Renaissance pieces, madrigals, spirituals, and ballads as well as modern songs by composers such as George Gershwin, the Beatles and Billy Joel.
The Chamber Singers’ variety of performances include Veteran’s Day events, Naturalization ceremonies, the Battle of the Blends at the Franco Center, the Dempsey Challenge opening and summer L/A Art Walks. They have regaled visitors with beautiful Christmas music at the Woman’s Literary Union’s Twelfth Night Celebration at the festively decorated Foss Mansion in Auburn. In 2019, the Chamber Singers had the honor of performing at Governor Mills Inaugural Celebration.
All members of Chamber Singers are first members of the Maine Music Chorale. These singers look to increase opportunities to sing beyond the chorale and rehearse typically once a week on Sundays during chorale season and on Thursdays in the summer. The group is self-led and all members collaborate to select, rehearse and refine their pieces. There is no audition beyond membership in the MMS Chorale.
