SALUTE TO MOZART OPENS MMS SEASON

Lewiston—“A Birthday Salute to Mozart”, the first concert of the Maine Music Society’s 2006-2007 season, will take place in Olin Arts Center at Bates College on Saturday, September 30 at 8:00 p.m. featuring the Maine Chamber Ensemble conducted by John Corrie, the organization’s new Interim Artistic Director.

The evening program will include Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21 in C Major, KV. 467 which Mr. Corrie will direct from the fortepiano.  The concerto dates from 1785, and from a period in which Mozart composed his six best-known concertos.  The second work on the program will be the Symphony in G Minor, KV. 550, dating from 1788.  John Corrie is a lecturer in music and directs the choir at Bates College as well as serving as the new conductor of the Androscoggin Chorale.
