The Maine Music Society was organized to support the artistic and educational activities of the auditioned, volunteer singers of the Androscoggin Chorale and the professional players of the Maine Music Society Chamber Orchestra. It was the purpose of the founders of the Maine Music Society to create a cultural institution based in Lewiston-Auburn that would endure by providing some of the essential grace that characterizes civilized, urban living.
