Maine Music Society

2019 – 2020 Performance Season

Greetings From John Corrie

John CorrieThis season is my 14th as Artistic Director. Those years have been filled with wonderful music making. We have developed so much as a Chorale, explored many new compositions, and performed magnificent masterworks of the choral repertoire.

It is now time for me to pass the baton. The Chorale is thriving and the Board of Directors is strong. I have grown immensely as a conductor and have been blessed to work with wonderful singers and committed board members. I thank each of them and especially you, the members of our supportive audience. I could not have grown or accomplished as much without your help.

The concerts for my last season have been chosen to showcase the Chorale’s superb talents, from the Chamber Singers’ participation in the popular Battle of the Blends to the very special Gala Farewell concert.

While the Maine Music Society will certainly continue to make beautiful choral music for years to come, it has been my great joy to share the joy of singing with you all! I look forward to seeing you at all four events as I celebrate my last year of Making Music Soar.

Music For Everyone

The Maine Music Society is a versatile non-profit choral organization that performs a wide variety of musical styles for the enjoyment of its patrons.   We consist of the 60 voice MMS Chorale, 20 voice a capella MMS Chamber Singers and professional MMS Orchestra whose members share their love of music and music making with the community.

In addition to performing four major concerts each year at the Gendron Franco Center, members of MMS participate in community events such as the Lewiston/Auburn Art Walk, Veteran recognition and US citizen naturalization ceremonies, and Twelfth Night Celebrations . We regularly collaborate with local high school and adult choirs to support the growth of choral singing in the area.

Our repertoire includes music for everyone – major classical and modern works, pop, rock, folk songs, jazz, religious pieces, art songs, and carols. We invite you to join us in our 28th year of making music soar!

You can even serve refreshments!
