The Maine Music Society Chamber Singers
he Singers have been performing frequently since they organized in 2013. This smaller group, made up of members of the Maine Music Society Chorale, formerly the Androscoggin Chorale, prepare and sing every song without accompaniment – a cappella – which means that the singers can travel to any location.
Indeed the voices of this smaller group have performed at many different locations: the Naturalization Ceremonies for our newest citizens; the summer L/A Art Walks; the summer Wednesday Noonday Concert series at the Basilica of Ss Peter and Paul; the Veterans’ Day festivities; and the 25th anniversary of the Knights of Columbus from Holy Family, Lewiston.
Their voices have also been raised in concert at Monmouth’s Cumston Hall, and at the Gould Academy as part of the Bethel Historical Society’s Commemoration of the 150th Anniversary of the end of the Civil War.
They’ve been busy!
This November the Chamber Singers will present a full set of songs at the Battle of the Blends concert. Drawing performers from all around New England and hosted by MMS, this is a sell out a cappella event in its 22nd season.
The Chamber Singers’ musical choices range from the 16th century right up to the present with songs by George Gershwin, the Beatles, and Billy Joel; they are even preparing a song by Pentatonix.
