The Maine Music Society Chamber Singers
he Singers have been performing frequently since they organized in 2013. A division of the MMS Chorale, the 18 voices of the Maine Music Society Chamber Singers delight in singing a cappella, which means that the singers prepare and sing every song without accompaniment and, subsequently, can travel to any location.
The Chamber Singers musical repertoire includes a delightful mix of genres, including Renaissance pieces, madrigals, spirituals, and ballads as well as modern songs by composers such as George Gershwin, the Beatles and Billy Joel.
Indeed the voices of this smaller group have performed at many different locations: the Naturalization Ceremonies for our newest citizens; the summer L/A Art Walks; the summer Wednesday Noonday Concert series at the Basilica of Ss Peter and Paul; the Veterans' Day festivities; and the B2B Trade Show.
Their voices have also been raised in concert at Monmouth's Cumston Hall, at the Gould Academy as part of the Bethel Historical Society's Commemoration of the 150th Anniversary of the end of the Civil War, and as part of Isleboro's summer concert series.
They've been busy!
This November the Chamber Singers will present a full set of songs at the Battle of the Blends 25th Anniversary Celebration. Drawing performers from all around New England and hosted by MMS, this concert is a sell out a cappella event.
Check them out!
